Herbal Oils & Salves

Please note: At Dry Hollow Farm, we harvest organically-grown herbs and wild botanicals for the creation of a wide variety of infused oils and salves. We hand-harvest our herbs and create oil infusions for skin-healthy serums and salves.

Cinnamon Basil, when used topically as a salve or infused oil, helps rejuvenate dry and damaged skin. Salves and oils also add a protective layer against sun and wind exposure, and may relieve common skin ailments such as eczema because of its anti-bacterial, anti-viral properties.

Jewelweed

Jewelweed is a beautiful plant that grows wild across Dry Hollow Farm. It produces delicate orange and yellow flowers that provide splashes of color in the warm sun of late summer and early fall. Jewelweed leaves contain antifungal, antihistamine, and anti-inflammatory properties. Oils, salves, and soaps infused with jewelweed help to provide itch relief from poison ivy, bug bites, and more.

Lemon Basil

Lemon Basil contains anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, as well as high levels of vitamin K. It also contains minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, copper, iron, zinc, and manganese. For skin, lemon basil is a natural detoxifier and promotes rapid healing for abrasions, burns, and rashes.

Lemongrass

Lemongrass naturally contains a healthy variety of antioxidants as well as iron, calcium, and vitamin C. In addition to creating a soothing herbal tea, lemongrass provides antibacterial and antifungal properties when used as an herbal oil, salve, or soap.

Purple Basil

Also known as the Herb of Many Colors, Purple Basil is packed with vitamins A, C, and K as well as other nutrients beneficial for healthy skin. Its antimicrobial properties make it an excellent choice for treating skin abrasions, bug bites, fungal infections, and rashes when used as a salve or infused-oil.

Spicy Basil

Spicy Basil carries the same skin-healing properties as our other basil-infused oils and salves. When compared with sweet or green basil, Spicy Basil provides astringent, healing properties similar to thai or cinnamon basil.

Sweet Basil

As with all basil varieties, Sweet Basil is more than just a cooking herb. Basil contains anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that soothe skin and tighten pores. Natural antioxidants rejuvenate skin and eliminate damaging free radicals. Basil also contains vitamin C which contributes to reducing age spots when used topically as an infused oil or salve.

Thai Basil

As an herbal oil or salve, Thai Basil contains properties that provides extra moisture for skin, and aids in fighting skin irritations, acne, and abrasion infections. It also is credited with the reduction of wrinkles due to aging. When ingested or brewed as an herbal tea, basil potentially provides many health benefits, including reducing some effects of aging, fighting bacteria that leads to dental decay, and reducing blood pressure.

Tulsi Basil

Tulsi Basil (also known as Holy Basil) is renowned for its many health benefits. Containing vitamins A and C, chlorophyll, zinc, calcium, and iron, tulsi basil also aids in reducing stress, sleeplessness, forgetfulness, and more. When used topically as an infused oil or salve, tulsi basil is also anti-inflammatory, adaptogenic, antimicrobial, and contains antioxidant properties. It aids in fighting acne, soothes, and provides antioxidants to support healthy skin.

Blackberry Leaf

Blackberry vines grow vigorously across our farm in rural western Tennessee. In addition to producing deliciously sweet berries every summer, these wild blackberry plants produce leaves with specific skin-healthy vitamins and nutrients. Blackberry leaf has been studied for its powerful anti-aging properties. It boosts collagen and elastin, promoting firm skin. It also contains an antioxidant that is comparable to Vitamin E, as well as antimicrobial properties.

Goldenrod

Every Tennessee autumn, goldenrod lines our pastures and fields with eye-catching displays of sunny, yellow flowers. Goldenrod flowers have many purposes, but we love it for its ability to reduce inflammation and improve wound healing for our skin.

Mint Leaf

Mint is more than just a flavor for toothpaste, ice cream, or chewing gum. Mint leaf also has amazing skin benefits thanks to its antibacterial, anti fungal, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. When applied topically, mint leaf aids in fighting acne, promoting wound healing, toning skin, and brightening the complexion. Our mint leaf herbal tea also provides a soothing, healthy drink for both hot and cold days.

Violet Leaf

Violet is not just an ornamental plant. It contains properties that help provide deep cleansing, cooling, moisturizing to promote healthy skin. Violet leaf salves help soothe rashes, eczema, and other skin disorders.
